Natembeya’s Dramatic Exit From County HQs Captured on Camera Amid This Claims-Details

A video of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya leaving the county headquarters in Kitale under tight security has sparked interest amid rising tensions over the Masinde Muliro Business Park controversy.

The video, which surfaced on Monday, October 19, shows Natembeya’s vehicle departing the county headquarters while members of his security detail surround the SUV. Some officers were spotted grabbing onto the sides of the car as it drove away, while others gathered on the premises to witness the bizarre event.

The development came shortly after General Service Unit (GSU) officers reportedly barricaded the entrance to the county headquarters, creating a tense atmosphere as disagreements over the management of the newly commissioned business facility continued.

Natembaya has raised concerns about the management of Masinde Muliro Business Park, particularly the allocation of trading stalls. The governor has maintained that local traders should profit from the facility, which was built to provide a modern market environment and expand economic prospects in the county.

Abigael Gikonyo, a member of Linda Mwananchi’s Digital, Media, and Publicity Team, made additional assertions, complicating the matter. In a statement released on October 19, Gikonyo claimed that Natembeya had gone into hiding following a suspected raid on his home.

However, Gikonyo stated that the governor was not at home during the claimed operation. The details behind the claimed raid, including who conducted it and why, were unknown at the time of reporting.

The Linda Mwananchi team criticised attempts to muzzle opposition views and pledged to continue advocating for constitutionalism and the rule of law.The confrontation takes place against the backdrop of a public dispute between Natembeya and President William Ruto over the industrial park.

Natembeya had previously declared plans to visit the plant before cancelling his planned launch, emphasising the conflicts around its management and ownership of the process.

The latest developments have piqued public interest in the conflict, with emphasis now shifting to how the disagreement will be addressed and the possible impact for Trans Nzoia commerce.
