Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has donated vehicles to eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently abandoned plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The vehicles are expected to ease the lawmakersā movement to their constituencies and support their political engagements and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The donation follows President Bola Tinubuās reported intervention, urging the lawmakers to return to the state and work towards strengthening party unity ahead of the polls.
Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, directed the immediate release of the vehicles to address the lawmakersā transportation challenges and facilitate their political activities across their constituencies.
Presenting the vehicles on the ministerās behalf, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Commission (NAIC), Yazid Shehu Danfulani, described the gesture as part of Matawalleās efforts to promote unity, cohesion and understanding among APC stakeholders in Zamfara.
The donation is also seen by party stakeholders as a step towards consolidating the reconciliation process involving the lawmakers and the minister.
It comes less than a week after the lawmakers reversed their decision to dump the APC following Tinubuās intervention and what the statement described as Matawalleās sustained efforts to resolve the dispute.
The minister urged the lawmakers to mobilise support for the APC as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
