I Remember When There Were Fuel Queues, We Were Buying A Litre Of Fuel For ₦3, Some ₦2500 -Afegbua

Prince Kazeem Afegbua, the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, pointing to the change in fuel availability compared with previous years

Afegbua stated this during an interview with SYMFONI TV on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, where he urged Nigerians to consider the challenges the country faced in the past when assessing the president’s performance.

He recalled that motorists previously spent days in queues searching for petrol, noting that fuel scarcity was once a common experience across the country.

The commissioner also recalled periods when Nigerians paid exorbitant prices for petrol due to scarcity, arguing that these experiences should be considered when evaluating the current situation.

In his words, “People tend to be in a hurry to forget that fuel queues were the order of the day. People queue up days on end to looking for petrol for their vehicles. If you go to filling stations now they are even calling you to come and buy fuel. I remember when there were fuel queues we were buying a litre for ₦3000 some ₦2500.”
