“How Many Civil Servants Can Afford A ₦300m House?”- Yabateh Girls Speak On Dating Yah00 Boys

Some female students of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) have sparked reactions online after sharing their opinions on why they would rather date internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yah00 boys, than civil servants.

In a statement attributed to the students, they argued that Yahoo boys are more likely to afford luxury cars, expensive gifts and high-end properties because of the amount of money they allegedly make.

“I’d rather date a Yah00 boy than a civil servant because only Yahoo boys can afford G-Wagons and expensive cars,” one of the statements read.

The students also compared the alleged daily earnings of internet fraudsters with the monthly salaries of civil servants, claiming that some Yahoo boys could make up to three times what a government worker earns in a month within a single day.

They further questioned how many civil servants could afford a house worth ₦300 million in Lekki, Lagos, using the example to highlight the financial difference they believe exists between the two groups.

According to the statements, the ability to provide money and meet financial demands immediately was another factor influencing their preference.

“If I ask a Yah00 boy for anything, he’ll give it to me immediately, but a civil servant will have to wait until the end of the month before giving me money,” the statement added.

The comments have generated discussions about relationships, financial expectations and the growing importance some people place on material possessions when choosing romantic partners.
