“Hiyo Kiti Mtoto wa Baba Ameenda Nayo”: Jalang’o Told by Top Govt Official as He Eyes Senate Seat

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has received another warning over his political ambitions after declaring his readiness to face Winnie Odinga in the upcoming elections.

Jalang’o has maintained that he will not abandon his political plans despite growing speculation that challenging the daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga could prove difficult.

The latest remarks have added to the debate surrounding the political future of Lang’ata Constituency and the possibility of a contest between the two figures in the 2027 General Election.

A third-term Member of Parliament allied to President William Ruto is among those who have cautioned Jalang’o against pursuing the political battle.

The MP reportedly argued that Winnie Odinga had already taken the seat associated with her father’s political legacy, saying, “Hiyo kiti mtoto wa Baba amechukua.”

The remarks, which translate to “That seat has been taken by Baba’s daughter,” suggest that Winnie could enjoy significant political support because of her connection to the late Raila Odinga.

Winnie has attracted attention in recent months as discussions continue about her possible political ambitions and her place within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Her family background and association with Raila’s political legacy could become important factors if she decides to seek an elective position.

However, Jalang’o has continued to project confidence, insisting that he is prepared to compete politically rather than surrendering to pressure from those who believe his ambitions are unlikely to succeed.

The potential contest has generated interest among political observers, with questions emerging over whether the two leaders could eventually face each other at the ballot.

Jalang’o has previously faced criticism over his political positioning, particularly following his association with the broad-based arrangement involving Ruto’s administration.

As the 2027 elections approach, the Lang’ata MP’s next political moves and Winnie’s intentions are likely to attract further attention.

For now, neither political calculations nor public endorsements can determine the eventual outcome. The final decision will depend on the candidates’ choices, party nominations and the voters’ verdict at the ballot.
