Governor Sakaja Fires Mosiria as Chief Officer

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reassigned Geoffrey Mosiria from his position as Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, days after he expressed interest in contesting the gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

A circular dated October 21, 2026, and signed by County Secretary Machel Waikenda, confirmed the immediate changes affecting three senior county officials.

Mosiria’s responsibilities will be taken over by Zipporah Njeri Mwangi, who will serve as Acting Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service while retaining her existing duties.

The reshuffle also affects Eng. Samwel Njogu, who has been reassigned as Acting Chief Officer for Mobility, and Godfrey Akumali, who moves to the Housing and Urban Renewal docket while also serving as Acting Chief Officer for Lands.

Before the changes, Mosiria had indicated that he would consider challenging Sakaja for the Nairobi governorship if he secured endorsements from two senior political figures.

He had also acknowledged that his tenure in the county government was approaching its end. The county government did not issue a separate public statement explaining the reshuffle.
