Ghana AIDS Commission to intensify HIV/AIDS education among youth
The Ghana AIDS Commission says it is strengthening efforts to sustain HIV/AIDS awareness among young people through continuous, age-appropriate public education.
Speaking to Adom News, the Commission’s Director-General, Dr. Kharmacelle Prosper Akanbong, expressed concern that public education campaigns in Ghana often end after their launch without sustained follow-up.
He explained that the Commission is partnering with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) to develop targeted messages for different age groups, particularly the youth.
Dr. Akanbong added that the initiative will involve continuous engagement with the media to deliver timely and relevant messages capable of influencing behaviour and promoting HIV prevention.
