From Parliament To Prison — Ghanaian MP Ohene Frimpong To Face Extradition Hearing In Netherlands
Ghanaian MP for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, popularly known as OK Frimpong, is set to face his extradition hearing next month on November 18, 2026, in the Netherlands.
The lawmaker has been in Dutch custody since his arrest at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam in May 2026 after travelling from Ghana.
Since his arrest, things have gone from bad to worse. Two separate bail applications filed to free him have both been rejected by the Dutch court. That means he has been sleeping in a Dutch cell for months.
According to Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Parliament is now preparing for the substantive hearing. “The extradition hearing will take place on the 18th of November 2026,” he confirmed on Eyewitness News.
The case is serious. Reports indicate the MP was pulled off the passport line at Schiphol Airport and is facing an 18-count U.S. indictment, with two alleged co-conspirators named. The November hearing will decide whether he will be sent to face charges in Illinois, USA.
From making laws in Parliament to fighting for his freedom in a foreign prison — OK Frimpong’s fate will be decided next month.
