Everybody Is Coming; The Chinese And Indians Are Here —Mahama Urges Investors Not To Overlook Africa

According to reports by Citi FM on Wednesday October 21, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama has urged international investors not to shy away from Africa, stressing that the continent presents significant opportunities for businesses and investors willing to explore its growing markets.

He emphasized that Ghana remains open to investment from countries across the world, including members of the European Union, the United States, Russia and other global economic powers.

Speaking on the importance of attracting international investment, Mahama cautioned investors against being hesitant about doing business in Africa.

According to him, the continent is increasingly attracting interest from major economies, making it important for countries and businesses that want to remain competitive to recognise the opportunities available.

In his remarks, the Ghanaian leader stated, “It’s to your own disadvantage if you’re skittish about Africa. Everybody is coming; the Chinese are here, the Indians are here.”

His statement highlights the growing competition among international partners seeking to strengthen their economic relationships with African countries. China and India have maintained significant

commercial interests across the continent, while other global powers continue to explore opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, technology and manufacturing.

Mahama’s comments also reinforce Ghana’s position as a country seeking to expand its international economic partnerships and attract investors from different parts of the world.

By welcoming businesses from the EU, the US, Russia and other regions, his administration is signalling its willingness to engage with a broad range of international partners.

The president’s remarks suggest that Ghana does not intend to limit its investment opportunities to a particular group of countries. Instead, the country is prepared to engage with investors based on the opportunities available and the potential benefits their involvement could bring to the Ghanaian economy.

Beyond economic cooperation, Mahama also disclosed plans to participate in the Russia-Africa Summit, where he intends to engage Russian President Vladimir Putin on the ongoing conflict involving Russia and Ukraine.

According to the information provided, Mahama plans to appeal to Putin for a ceasefire, highlighting his intention to use diplomatic engagement to encourage efforts towards ending the hostilities.

His proposed participation in the summit could provide an opportunity for discussions on bilateral relations, trade, investment and broader issues affecting Africa’s relationship with Russia. His planned appeal for a ceasefire also places peace and international diplomacy among the issues he intends to raise during the engagement.
