CS Ogamba Holds High-Profile Gusii Leaders’ Meeting Ahead of President Ruto’s Expected Regional Tour
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, chaired a high-profile meeting with leaders from the Gusii region at Serena Hotel in Nairobi to discuss government development projects and priorities ahead of President William Ruto’s anticipated tour of the area.
The meeting brought together senior government officials and elected leaders to review ongoing development initiatives and identify areas requiring additional intervention to address the region’s needs.
Ogamba said the consultations were intended to assess the government’s development agenda and establish priority areas that could receive attention during the President’s forthcoming visit.
Among those who attended were Joseph Nanok, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Kisii Governor Simba Arati and Senator Esther Okenyuri.
The meeting also brought together Members of Parliament Joash Nyamoko, Dorice Aburi, Alfa Miruka, Steve Mogaka, Zaheer Jhanda, Japheth Nyakundi, Daniel Manduku, Charles Onchoke, Jerusha Momanyi and Renee Nyakerario.
Their participation provided an opportunity for leaders representing different constituencies to discuss development concerns and coordinate priorities for engagement with the national government.
The consultations come as preparations continue for the expected presidential tour, which could offer regional leaders an opportunity to present community needs and seek further government support for ongoing and proposed projects.
However, the statement did not disclose the specific projects discussed, whether new commitments were made or the exact date of the anticipated presidential visit.
The meeting highlighted the role of consultations between government officials and elected representatives in identifying development priorities ahead of the planned regional engagement.
