Como 4-1 Man Utd: Nico Paz Scores Twice as United Suffer Champions League Collapse

According to a report by The Sun on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Manchester United suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League, with Michael Carrick’s side producing a disappointing display.

Como made the perfect start when Nico Paz opened the scoring just two minutes into the match. United struggled to respond as the hosts controlled proceedings and created problems for the visitors.

The Italian side carried their advantage into the second half before extending it shortly after the restart. Anastasios Douvikas produced a clinical finish to make it 2-0, leaving United with a difficult task to recover.

Paz then completed his brace as Como increased their lead to 3-0. United attempted to find a route back into the contest, but their efforts failed to produce an immediate breakthrough.

Amad Diallo provided one of the brighter moments for the visitors after coming on, testing Como goalkeeper Butez with a powerful effort from around 25 yards. The goalkeeper reacted well to tip the ball over the crossbar.

United continued to have possession during a stronger spell, with Bruno Fernandes attempting to create opportunities. However, Como remained organised and resisted the pressure.

Carrick eventually replaced Fernandes with Joshua Zirkzee in the 67th minute as United searched for a goal. Matthijs de Ligt was later withdrawn for Harry Amass, while Shea Lacey replaced Bryan Mbeumo late in the match.

Como then delivered another decisive blow in the 76th minute. Jacobo Ramon was left unmarked inside the area and headed Kaiki’s cross beyond goalkeeper Lammens to make it 4-0.

The goal effectively ended United’s hopes of recovering, with Como continuing to threaten during the closing stages. Paz was substituted after an impressive performance, receiving an ovation from the home supporters.

United eventually found a consolation goal in the first minute of stoppage time. Amad supplied the cross for Zirkzee, who controlled the delivery before drilling his finish past Butez to make it 4-1.

The late goal did little to change the outcome as Como comfortably saw out the remaining minutes. United were unable to produce another response before the final whistle confirmed a 4-1 defeat.

The result leaves Carrick facing increased pressure after a night in which United were comprehensively outplayed by Como in the Champions League.
