UEFA Champions League, League Stage – 3 Bayern München BAY 2 – 2 Full Time Arsenal ARS Venue Allianz Arena Referee Davide Massa Alphonso Davies 35′ Harry Kane 61′ (Pen) Eberechi Eze 25′ Declan Rice 82′ Declan Rice scored a late equaliser as Arsenal fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in an entertaining Champions League clash at the Allianz Arena.

Eberechi Eze had given Mikel Arteta’s side the lead in the first half before Alphonso Davies equalised for the hosts.

Former Tottenham striker Harry Kane then put Bayern ahead from the penalty spot after the break, but Rice struck in the 82nd minute to ensure the points were shared.

The result leaves Arsenal seventh in the Champions League league phase with seven points from three matches, while Bayern sit 14th with five.

Arsenal suffered an early blow when Bukayo Saka was forced off injured after just 10 minutes.

The England winger had made a promising start but pulled up while attempting a routine pass, appearing to suffer a muscular problem.

Eze replaced him and made an immediate impact, although Bayern had opportunities to take the lead.

Serge Gnabry wasted a particularly good chance in the 21st minute when he found himself through on goal but failed to beat David Raya.

Arsenal punished that miss four minutes later with a brilliant move involving Martin Odegaard and Eze.

The Gunners captain delivered an outstanding long pass over Bayern’s defence, allowing Eze to race into the penalty area and calmly roll a left-footed finish beyond Manuel Neuer.

There was a brief VAR check for offside, but Josip Stanisic had played the Arsenal midfielder onside and the goal stood.

Arsenal nearly doubled their advantage when Bruno Guimaraes found himself unmarked at the back post from a corner, only to send his effort wide.

Bayern continued to threaten, however, and eventually drew level in the 35th minute.

Kane dropped deep to collect possession before producing an excellent pass from near the halfway line, splitting Arsenal’s defence and finding Davies in behind Jurrien Timber.

The Canadian winger raced onto the ball and guided a composed right-footed finish past Raya into the bottom corner.

The second half began at a frantic pace, with both goalkeepers producing outstanding saves.

Neuer somehow kept out Guimaraes’ close-range header following Rice’s corner, pushing the ball onto the crossbar before Bayern cleared.

Moments later, Raya produced an equally impressive stop at the other end, diving to his right to deny Dayot Upamecano’s powerful header from Gnabry’s cross.

Eze then threatened to restore Arsenal’s lead when he beat Konrad Laimer inside the penalty area, but Neuer stood firm to block his effort from a tight angle.

Bayern eventually went ahead in the 61st minute after being awarded a penalty for handball.

Laimer played the ball into Kane, whose goalbound shot struck Timber’s raised arm as the Arsenal defender attempted to block.

Following a VAR check, the penalty was confirmed, and Kane stepped up to send Raya the wrong way before firing high into the left side of the net.

The goal extended Kane’s remarkable scoring record against his former north London rivals and made him only the second player, after Cristiano Ronaldo, to score in 10 consecutive Champions League appearances.

Bayern threatened to extend their advantage, with Laimer firing wide after a dangerous counter-attack.

Arteta responded by introducing Viktor Gyokeres and Myles Lewis-Skelly, while Vincent Kompany brought on Luis Diaz and Lennart Karl.

Diaz almost made an impact when he cut inside from the left and fired towards goal, forcing Raya into another good save.

Arsenal continued to search for a way back and finally found one in the 82nd minute.

Rice started the move by switching play to Noni Madueke, who quickly found Gyokeres.

The Swedish striker held up the ball before threading a perfectly weighted pass into Rice’s path, allowing the England midfielder to drive a right-footed finish into the bottom corner beyond Neuer.

It was Rice’s first goal of the season and his first away from home in the Champions League.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, with Arsenal coming closest when Timber cut inside and struck towards goal in stoppage time.

Neuer reacted sharply to tip his effort over the crossbar before Bayern survived the resulting corner.

Neither side could find a late breakthrough, leaving Arsenal unbeaten after three Champions League matches and Bayern still searching for their second win of the league phase.
