Barcelona Superstar Admits he Was Not at His Best After 2-4 Loss to PSG

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Barcelona forward Anthony Gordon has admitted that he failed to deliver his best performance during the team’s 4-2 Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the final whistle at the Parc des Princes, the 25-year-old acknowledged that PSG deserved their victory, as Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season.

Gordon highlighted the French champions’ superior intensity, physical strength and quality throughout the contest. Meanwhile, midfielder Marc Bernal believes Barcelona can learn valuable lessons from the disappointing result.

Gordon did not hide his disappointment with Barcelona’s performance, admitting that Luis Enrique’s side demonstrated why they remain among Europe’s strongest teams with their display.

“They deserved it. They were the better team and had the better moments with real quality,” Gordon said, acknowledging PSG’s superiority during crucial stages of the encounter.

The Englishman also explained that PSG maintained their pressing intensity for longer, creating difficulties for Barcelona as the visitors struggled to match their opponents’ physical and tactical demands throughout the match.

“Athletically, they were able to sustain the pressure and intensity for longer than we were,” he added, identifying an area Barcelona must improve to compete against Europe’s leading clubs.

Gordon also acknowledged PSG’s recent achievements, recognising the French side’s consistency and quality while admitting Barcelona still have significant progress to make before reaching that level.

“They’ve been the team to beat for two years and tonight they gave a great example as to why,” the forward explained.

Taking responsibility for his own display, Gordon admitted he was disappointed with his contribution and insisted that both individually and collectively, Barcelona must perform better in upcoming matches.

“I don’t think I was good tonight, like the whole team. I think we want to perform better. I know I was not at my best,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Marc Bernal offered a more positive perspective, focusing on the determination Barcelona displayed despite losing against the reigning European champions.

The midfielder, who started in place of the rested Rodri, praised the team’s character while acknowledging that small details often determine the outcome of matches at the highest level.

“It was a match we approached very well, with character, which is what Flick asked of us, but in the Champions League, matches are decided by small details,” Bernal said.

He added that Barcelona would use the experience to improve, stressing that the season remains long and the defeat could provide important lessons for the team moving forward.
