Barcelona Manager Hansi Flick Explains Why Barcelona Lost 4-2 to PSG

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has explained that fatigue and costly mistakes contributed to his side’s 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 20.

Speaking after the match at the Parc des Princes, Flick admitted that Barcelona lost possession too easily and made several errors that PSG punished.

“We have committed too many mistakes in this match, especially in possession of the ball, with easy losses of the ball,” the German coach said, according to his post-match comments reported by EFE.

Flick also pointed to a lack of physical freshness after a demanding period for his players. Barcelona had faced travel disruption over the weekend after severe weather forced the team to stay an extra night in Seville.

However, the manager stressed that these circumstances were not excuses for the result. He said the team needed to analyse its performance, improve its positioning and maintain better connections between players.

Barcelona remained competitive for much of the encounter, but Flick felt PSG’s quality became particularly evident in the closing stages. After Barcelona had made it 3-2, the visitors lost intensity and conceded another goal.

Despite the defeat, Flick said he saw positive signs in his team’s performance and believed the experience would help them identify areas for improvement.

The result ended Barcelona’s perfect start to the 2026/27 season and gave the Spanish side important lessons ahead of their upcoming El Clásico against Real Madrid on Sunday.

Flick will now hope his players recover quickly and correct the mistakes exposed by PSG as Barcelona prepare for another major test.
