Barcelona Forward Admits He Was Not at His Best After 2-4 Loss to PSG: ‘We want to perform better
According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Barcelona forward Anthony Gordon has admitted that he delivered a disappointing performance during the 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
The Englishman acknowledged that the French champions were the better side and deserved their victory at the Parc des Princes.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the final whistle, the 25-year-old gave an honest assessment of Barcelona’s first defeat of the season. Gordon highlighted PSG’s superior intensity and quality while admitting that his team must improve to compete against Europe’s strongest clubs.
Gordon acknowledged that Barcelona struggled to match the hosts throughout the encounter. He praised PSG for their performance and recognised the difference between the two sides on the night.
“They deserved it. They were the better team and had the better moments with real quality,” the forward explained.
He also identified PSG’s physical superiority as a major factor behind the result. According to Gordon, the hosts maintained their energy and pressure for longer periods, making it difficult for Barcelona to establish control.
“Athletically, they were able to sustain the pressure and intensity for longer than we were,” he added.
Gordon further described PSG as a leading standard for other European contenders. The French side’s recent success has established them among the continent’s strongest teams, and their performance against Barcelona demonstrated why they remain difficult opponents.
“They’ve been the team to beat for two years and tonight they gave a great example as to why,” he stated.
The Barcelona forward also accepted responsibility for his individual display. He admitted that he failed to reach his usual level and stressed the team’s determination to respond positively.
“I don’t think I was good tonight, like the whole team. I think we want to perform better. I know I was not at my best,” Gordon concluded.
Meanwhile, midfielder Marc Bernal insisted Barcelona could learn valuable lessons from the defeat. The academy graduate started in place of the rested Rodri and highlighted the importance of maintaining concentration.
Bernal praised his teammates’ character but acknowledged that small details often determine Champions League matches. He added that Barcelona would work to improve, believing the experience could benefit them throughout the remainder of the campaign.
