Asante Kotoko in talks with Romania’s Marian Marinicã over head coach role – Reports

Asante Kotoko have reportedly opened discussions with Romanian coach Marian Marinicã as the club continues its search for a new head coach.

The Porcupine Warriors are looking to fill their vacant technical position, with Marinica emerging as a potential candidate to take charge of the Ghanaian giants after the exit Eric Tinkler.

The 61-year-old has experience on the African continent, having previously managed Malawi and Liberia before taking charge of Zimbabwe in November 2025.

His experience across different African football environments could be a factor in Kotoko’s reported interest as they assess options for the position.

At club level, Marinica has also worked with teams including South African side Black Leopards and Romanian outfit Rapid Bucuresti and many others.

However, discussions are reportedly ongoing, and there has been no confirmation that an agreement has been reached between the coach and Asante Kotoko.

The ‘Kum Apem’ lads after the victory over Young Apostles over the weekend have climbed to eighth position with 11 points and will play regional rivals AshantiGold 04 next.
