A South African turned out to be a king in Zimbabwe

He moved from KZN to what is now Gauteng and North West, where the Basotho tribes, the Batswana, the Bapedi, and the Boers were at risk from him. He fought the Boers, and when he was scared of their weaponry, he ran away. To locate and subjugate the Karanga tribes, he crossed the Limpopo River.

The BSAC transferred Mpezeni, Njube, and Sdojwa to Cape Town for “protection” and education after Mzilikazi disappeared during the fighting in Zimbabwe involving white people. Njube went to Zonnebloem College, a mission-founded university. As a result of their residence in the Cape, his sons married Xhosa women from the area.

Bulelani was identified as the king after the Khumalo household began searching for him. He was the second child of Lobengula, a descendant of Njube, and the successor when his brother Mpezeni died of pleurisy in Somerset Hospital without having had any offspring.

Due to Zimbabwe’s refusal to recognize him as the Ndebele king, Bulelani held his first Imbizo in Berea Park, Johannesburg, in December 2018. This was after he was crowned there. He is currently in the royal palace of Ntabamhlophe. The Ndebele king was deposed in the First Matabele War of 1893, leaving the Ndebele throne empty for 124 years.
