WATCH: Officer and out of control car nearly collide in Visalia

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An officer’s dash cam captured a scary moment when a car came skidding across the road and nearly hit them, according to the Visalia Police Department.

The department posted the dash cam footage on Monday evening. A car headed in the opposite direction of the officer, and according to police, the driver of the car was going over 80 mph on Mooney Boulevard in Visalia.

The driver appeared to lose control, and the car skidded sideways across the center median into oncoming traffic. The officer was able to avoid colliding with the car by veering left and braking, but the footage shows that it was a dangerously close call.

The car left a large amount of dust and smoke trailing behind as it traveled in front of the officer. The driver then hit the curb and came to a stop in a yard that was in front of a business.

The officer then found a place to turn around and quickly located the vehicle. The officer then arrested them for reckless driving.
