Tinubu Says Pa Fasoranti Told Him He Would Be President in His Lifetime and God Answered His Prayer
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, told him in 2022 that he would be President in his lifetime, and that God answered the prayer.
The President said this in a press release mourning Pa Fasoranti, who died at the age of 100. The statement was shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on his official X handle on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
In the statement, President Tinubu said he recalled the prayers and counsel of the late Afenifere leader when he visited his residence in Akure in 2022 to inform him of his decision to contest the presidency.
He said he had hoped Pa Fasoranti would also be around for his second term to witness the full dawn of economic growth and prosperity in the land.
President Tinubu described the late Afenifere leader as a father, patriarch, elder statesman and foremost Afenifere leader. He said the nation will sorely miss his voice of wisdom, moral authority and fatherly counsel.
The President also thanked God for Pa Fasoranti’s long life of service, grace and fulfilment, and prayed that God would comfort all who mourn him.
Here is what President Tinubu said, as shared by Bayo Onanuga on X:
“I also recall his prayers and counsel when I came to his residence in Akure in 2022 to inform him of my decision to contest the presidency. Pa Fasoranti told me I would be President in his lifetime, and God answered his prayer.”
