Those Contending With Tinubu, After Watching The Rally In Lafia And Lokoja They Should Give Up-Fanwo
Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, has said opposition figures challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election should reconsider their chances following the large turnouts recorded at rallies in Lafia and Lokoja.
In an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Monday, October 19, 2026, Fanwo said the rallies reflected the level of support Tinubu was receiving, expressing confidence that the president could complete two terms in office based on his performance.
Fanwo accused opposition figures of engaging in a campaign of calumny against Tinubu, alleging that they were making provocative statements and disrespecting the president in an attempt to frustrate his supporters. He said the ruling party was focused on strengthening its grassroots mobilisation rather than responding to the criticisms.
The Kogi commissioner also expressed confidence that Tinubu would receive massive support across the North-Central region in the January 2027 election. He maintained that the party was working directly with grassroots supporters to secure votes and deliver the president’s expected electoral support in the region.
In his words, “Those that are contending with President Tinubu, after watching the rally in Lafia on Saturday, after seeing what happened in Lokoja today, I think they should begin to give up. What is going to stop a performing president from doing his eight years?”
