The North That Gave Tinubu 63.5 Percent Of His Total Votes In 2023 Is Basically In Revolt – Ardo

Umar Ardo, convener of the League of Northern Democrats, has claimed that Northern Nigeria, which contributed significantly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, is increasingly dissatisfied with his administration.

Ardo made the statement during an interview on Arise News on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while discussing the level of political support President Tinubu currently enjoys in the North ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to Ardo, the region that provided a substantial share of Tinubu’s votes in 2023 is experiencing growing opposition to his government. He suggested that the political situation in Northern Nigeria has changed considerably since the last presidential election.

Speaking during the interview, Ardo said, “The North that gave President Tinubu 63.6 percent of the total votes in 2023 is basically in revolt.”

His statement reflects his assessment that the president may be losing the support of voters who contributed significantly to his electoral victory. The use of the word “revolt” highlights the extent of the dissatisfaction Ardo believes exists across the region.
