School Bus Ferrying Group From Mashujaa Day Celebrations Reportedly Involved in Road Accident
Several residents of Ranymoi and Garage in Moiben were involved in a road accident on Tuesday, October 20, while travelling home after attending the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Eldoret.
The bus reportedly lost control before rolling, leaving several passengers trapped inside.
Witnesses worked together to pull those who could not get out, helping them move to safety.
The victims sustained minor injuries, and no deaths were reported.
Residents called for caution among drivers, especially during major public events when roads become busy.
According to the information available, the accident happened as the group was returning to Moiben after the celebrations.
Although the exact cause of the crash has not been confirmed, the incident occurred during a period of heavy movement on roads leading to and from Eldoret.
The residents had joined thousands of Kenyans at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, which hosted the 2026 national Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The event was jointly hosted by Uasin Gishu, Nandi, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, drawing large crowds from across the North Rift region.
Mashujaa Day is marked every year on October 20 to honour Kenyan heroes and heroines who contributed to the country’s independence struggle and national development.
This year’s celebration was held at Kipchoge Keino Stadium, where President William Ruto led the national event.
