Sarkodie Rules Out On Taking A Second Wife As He Reveals Why He Won’t Consider Polygamy

According to a report by Ghbase News on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Ghanaian rap superstar Sarkodie has ruled out the possibility of taking a second wife, explaining that he does not believe he has the capacity to manage the demands and pressure that come with maintaining more than one marriage.

The award-winning musician, born Michael Owusu Addo, shared his position during an interview with broadcaster Serwaa Amihere on When We Sit, where he was asked whether he would consider embracing polygamy, similar to his friend Shatta Wale.

Responding to the question, Sarkodie indicated that having multiple wives was not something he had seriously considered, citing the potential stress and responsibilities associated with such an arrangement.

According to the rapper, he does not believe he has the emotional and personal capacity required to manage the additional demands that could arise from having another wife.

“It’s not something I have thought about. The stress I will face. I don’t think I have the bandwidth for that,” Sarkodie said during the conversation.

His response suggests that, for him, the decision to remain in a monogamous marriage is influenced by the practical responsibilities involved in maintaining a relationship rather than simply the idea of having more than one wife.

During the interview, Serwaa Amihere further explored his position by asking whether he would reconsider his stance if taking a second wife came without the stress he had described.

However, the rapper maintained his position, indicating that polygamy was not an arrangement he was actively considering, even when the question was presented under less demanding circumstances.

The discussion has brought renewed attention to Sarkodie’s views on marriage and family life, particularly given his longstanding relationship with his wife, Tracy Sarkcess.

Sarkodie and Tracy Sarkcess tied the knot in July 2018 after spending several years together.

Their relationship has attracted public interest over the years, largely because of the rapper’s prominence in Ghana’s music industry and their decision to keep much of their family life private.

The couple have two children and generally maintain a low profile when it comes to personal and domestic matters, despite Sarkodie’s position as one of Ghana’s most recognised musical figures.
