Roberto De Zerbi reacts to Andy Robertson, Tosin Adarabioyo and Omar Marmoush injury concerns

According to a report by Metro on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has offered a reassuring update on Andy Robertson, Tosin Adarabioyo and Omar Marmoush after the trio raised injury concerns during the club’s 3-1 victory over Coventry City.

Spurs secured their first Premier League win of the season on Monday night, with goals from James Maddison, Marmoush and Ben Davies helping the north London side claim an important three points.

However, the victory was accompanied by concerns over the fitness of three players who were forced off during the second half, leaving De Zerbi facing questions about their availability for the upcoming clash against Chelsea.

Robertson appeared to be struggling as the game progressed and eventually went down before signalling that he needed to be substituted. Tosin also required attention before leaving the pitch, while Marmoush appeared to experience discomfort in his right calf after scoring Tottenham’s second goal.

The situation raised concerns for De Zerbi, who is already dealing with several injury problems within his squad.

Nevertheless, the Italian manager played down fears that the three players had suffered significant injuries when asked about their condition after the final whistle.

“No, no, no, I think there are no injuries, nothing important,” De Zerbi said.

His initial assessment will provide encouragement for Tottenham supporters, although further checks will be needed to establish whether the players will be available for the next fixture.

The timing of the injury scares is particularly concerning, with Tottenham preparing to face Chelsea on Saturday, October 24.

De Zerbi has already had to manage a lengthy list of absentees, including Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Savio, Lucas Bergvall and Mykhailo Mudryk. Rodrigo Bentancur is also suspended for the London derby.

Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro were unavailable for the Coventry match, although both could potentially return for the weekend.

Losing Robertson, Tosin and Marmoush would therefore represent another setback for a team desperate to build momentum after a difficult start to the campaign.

Robertson’s experience and defensive qualities could prove important against Chelsea, while Tosin provides another option in central defence. Marmoush, meanwhile, has offered Tottenham an additional attacking threat and made a significant contribution against Coventry by finding the net.

The Egyptian forward’s goal was particularly encouraging as he looks to establish himself within De Zerbi’s team. An extended absence would interrupt that progress and potentially leave Tottenham short of attacking options.

However, the manager’s comments suggest there is reason for optimism that the latest concerns may not result in lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Tottenham’s victory also brought positive developments elsewhere, with Maddison making his first Premier League start in well over a year and marking the occasion with a goal.

Dejan Kulusevski also returned from a lengthy injury absence, making his first appearance since May 2025 when he came off the bench late in the match.

De Zerbi expressed his happiness at seeing both players back in action, acknowledging the importance of their returns after difficult periods away from the pitch.

The manager also explained that his tactical approach against Coventry had been influenced by the fitness problems affecting his squad.

Conor Gallagher had only recently returned to training, while Bergvall was injured and Mateus Fernandes had completed limited training during the build-up to the game.

Those circumstances influenced De Zerbi’s decision to use a back-three structure, which he believed would help Tottenham control possession and prevent Coventry from creating dangerous counterattacking opportunities.
