Real Madrid’s Calafiori Interest Meets Arsenal’s €100m Transfer Stance
According to a report by BBC Sports on October 20, 2026, Real Madrid are interested in signing Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori and have already contacted people close to the Italian international to gather information ahead of a potential transfer.
However, the Spanish giants have yet to submit an official offer for the 24-year-old, while Arsenal are reportedly prepared to consider negotiations only if a bid exceeding €100 million (£85 million) is presented.
Calafiori joined Arsenal from Bologna in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth £37 million. Although injuries hampered his progress during his first two seasons at the Emirates Stadium, the defender has established himself as an important member of Mikel Arteta’s squad this season.
The Italian international has started all seven of Arsenal’s opening Premier League matches, highlighting his growing importance to the north London club’s defensive setup.
His versatility is another factor that could attract Real Madrid, as the former Bologna defender can operate at both left-back and centre-back. He is also comfortable moving into midfield when Arsenal have possession, making him well suited to Arteta’s tactical system.
Despite Real Madrid’s interest, Arsenal are reportedly determined to keep Calafiori, whom they regard as an important part of their long-term project. The defender remains under contract with the Premier League club until June 2029 and has not indicated that he wants to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Real Madrid are expected to continue monitoring his situation as they assess potential defensive reinforcements. However, Arsenal’s reported valuation could complicate negotiations, particularly if the Spanish club are unwilling to meet the Gunners’ financial demands.
