“My melodic side is probably one of the most underrated aspects of my music” – M.anifest

Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has described his melodic ability as the most underrated aspect of his music, arguing that his artistry goes beyond the lyrical prowess for which he is widely recognised.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, the rapper said his song No Where Cool appeals to many of his fans because it combines hip-hop, storytelling and melody.

“I think a lot of my fans fancy the song ‘No Where Cool’ because I think it brings a lot of things to bear. It brings the hip-hop to bear, it brings the gift of storytelling, and it brings the gift of melody,” he said.

M.anifest noted that listeners often focus on his lyrical skills without paying enough attention to his melodic abilities, which he considers a significant part of his musical strength.

“I think probably my melodic side is the most underrated aspect of my music. From my track ‘Charlie What Dey Happen’, all those things are there because people just think lyricism,” he stated.

The rapper explained that although he has developed his skills as a lyricist over the years, he believes his strengths in music-making extend beyond writing lyrics.

“I think my strongest suit in making music is developing the skill set in making good music. I have developed the skill set to be a good lyricist, but that is not actually where my strength is,” he added.

His comments highlight the range of musical elements he brings to his work, including melody, storytelling, and hip-hop, beyond the lyrical excellence often associated with his artistry.
