“Mt Kenya Has Produced 3 Presidents, Don’t Blame Current Regime For Their Failures” Senator Nyamu

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has once again found herself at the center of a heated online debate after her Mashujaa Day message from Eldoret elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans.

Few minutes ago, the Senator shared photos of herself disembarking from a plane in Eldoret, the City of Champions. Dressed in a long black jumpsuit with Kenyan flag colors, she wished her followers a happy Mashujaa Day from Eldoret. The post quickly gained traction, attracting over 3,000 likes and close to 300 comments within minutes.

While many of her supporters flooded the comment section with warm Mashujaa Day wishes and love messages, not everyone was in a celebratory mood.

One follower questioned the Senator about development in his backyard, asking how many stadiums are being built in the Mt Kenya area. The comment appeared to be a subtle jab at the government’s focus on development projects in other regions like Eldoret, while Mt Kenya feels sidelined.

Senator Nyamu, who is known for her no-nonsense responses, did not hold back. In a blunt reply that has now gone viral, she reminded the critic that the Mt Kenya region has produced three presidents in the history of Kenya. She argued that if those presidents failed to deliver the projects the region is now demanding, the blame should not be shifted to the current administration which is now implementing projects in its own home turf. She finished her response with a Kikuyu proverb suggesting that goodness comes from home.

Her response sparked even more reactions. Some Kenyans praised her for telling the truth as it is and for reminding Mt Kenya residents of their long stay in power. Others sided with the critic, saying the government should develop all regions equally regardless of who was president before, with one commenter sarcastically saying they are waiting for the former deputy president’s arrival.

Another group of users laughed off the exchange, saying they hope the message was understood in English, while others asked the Senator to repeat the question louder for the critic to understand.
