A woman found her stolen car on Monday evening, which resulted in two arrests and a police standoff on 8020 East Broadway in Spokane Valley.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A standoff in Spokane Valley on Monday evening ended with two people in handcuffs.
Heidi Butt told NonStop Local that her car was stolen in early October. This, along with an earlier house break in a few months prior, made her very anxious.
However, she talked herself into going out for dinner on Monday.
Heidi glanced out of her window at a stoplight and saw an unexpected sight.
βTo be at a stoplight looking left and seeing my car coming out of a dirt driveway,” she recalled the event, “That wasn’t an accident. I never go out to eat…. Here I was in the right space at the right time, and there was my car.β
She immediately called the police. Spokane Valley Police responded quickly, bringing along k9s and a drone.
Butts stated that it took officers around 45 minutes to completely clear the home and recover her keys that were stolen from her home during the second break-in.
Two people have been arrested. One was noted to have been arrested on unrelated warrants. The other was in relation to the stolen vehicle.
The car had clear damage to the window and was towed.
Heidi told us that she hopes that the people responsible are able to clean up their lives and make better decisions in the future.
Mark Gregory from the Spokane County Sheriffs Office stated that more information on the standoff will be released tomorrow.
