Mbadi Announces New KSh 32,800 PAYE Tax Exemption Plan for Kenyans

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has announced plans to further raise the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax exemption threshold from the proposed KSh 30,000 to KSh 32,800. The policy shift aims to ease financial pressure on lower-income workers by leaving them with higher take-home pay.Speaking at The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) in Uasin Gishu County, where he presided over the opening of the Mashujaa Day 2026 Economy (Finance) Thematic Week under the theme “An Economy for the People”, Mbadi confirmed that the government plans to table the amendment in Parliament.
