Marawa Drops Bombshell On Komphela’s Clash With Wiliete Coach,What Allegedly Happened Will Shock Fan

Marawa Reveals What Allegedly Triggered Komphela’s Clash With Wiliete Coach In Angola

Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Steve Komphela has reportedly explained what led to his heated confrontation with Wiliete SC head coach Beto Bianchi in Angola, with sports broadcaster Robert Marawa relaying an account that includes allegations of racial abuse, verbal insults and spitting.

The incident followed Sundowns’ 0-0 draw against the Angolan side in the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying tie on Sunday, 18 October 2026. What should have been a routine post-match discussion quickly became a major talking point in South African and African football after reports emerged that Bianchi had been taken to hospital for medical attention.

During his programme, Marawa Sports Worldwide, Marawa said he had spoken to Komphela about the confrontation and shared the coach’s version of events. However, the allegations have not been independently established, and a complete account from both sides remains important.

According to Marawa, Komphela identified disrespect and racism as the main issues behind his reaction.

“He said, no matter how big your buffer is, his biggest weakness is disrespect and racism, which he felt happened,” Marawa explained.

Marawa added that Komphela believed he understood the Portuguese insults allegedly directed at him.

“He knows it happened because when he was being sworn at by this coach, he was swearing him in Portuguese and he says he knew exactly what he was saying,” the broadcaster reported.

Marawa declined to repeat the alleged insults on national radio, saying the language was unsuitable for broadcast.

These claims remain allegations based on Komphela’s reported account. They should not be treated as a confirmed finding that racial abuse occurred.

Marawa also claimed that Komphela told him Bianchi had spat at him, an action that reportedly intensified the confrontation.

According to the account, Komphela had been overseeing additional work for Sundowns players who needed more time on the pitch after the match. Marawa said the Wiliete coach was allegedly waiting for him near the tunnel, following an earlier disagreement at half-time.

Marawa said Komphela acknowledged lashing out but reportedly maintained that he reacted because he felt he needed to protect himself after the alleged provocation.

That explanation represents Komphela’s reported perspective; it does not independently establish the sequence of events or justify any physical conduct.

Wiliete vice-president Vitorino Lunga Vicele has condemned the alleged assault and said the club was considering complaints to the relevant CAF bodies and Angolan authorities. He also stated that Bianchi had received medical attention and was recovering.

Reports further indicated that Sundowns management had apologised to Wiliete, although accounts differed on whether a formal complaint had been filed.

Neither the full circumstances of the confrontation nor any final disciplinary outcome had been confirmed in the reports available.
