Man Cancels Sister’s Wedding Two Hours Before Ceremony Over Groom’s Hidden Child

A Nigerian man has sparked mixed reactions after revealing how he stopped his younger sister’s wedding just two hours before the traditional ceremony because her fiancé allegedly hid the fact that he had a child.

The 29-year-old man said his 26-year-old sister had been dating the groom for three years, but she reportedly knew nothing about his two-year-old child. According to his account, the family had already spent money preparing for the wedding, and their mother had even taken a loan to help cover the expenses.

However, shortly before the ceremony, the groom’s best friend reportedly contacted him privately and urged him to tell his sister the truth before she married the man.

The friend allegedly revealed that the groom had a child with a woman living in Ibadan. After hearing the news, the older brother confronted the groom, who reportedly broke down and begged him to forgive him.

The groom allegedly explained that the child’s mother lived in Ibadan and that his family had advised him to keep the matter secret until after the wedding. They reportedly believed his future wife would eventually accept the situation.

The man said he was left with a difficult choice: keep quiet to allow the wedding to proceed or tell his sister what he had discovered. He eventually decided to inform her before the ceremony.

His sister reportedly collapsed after hearing the news, and the wedding was called off even though about 300 guests had already arrived and taken their seats.

The decision has since caused disagreements within the family. The man said his mother was angry with him, accusing him of bringing shame to the family because drinks had already been presented to the groom’s family and guests had begun eating.

His father, however, supported his decision, believing his daughter deserved to know the truth before getting married.

The man added that his friends were also divided over the matter. While some supported his decision to protect his sister from entering the marriage without knowing about the child, others argued that he should have waited until after the wedding to discuss the issue.

With tensions still running high at home, the man has questioned whether cancelling the ceremony at the last minute was the right decision or whether he should have handled the situation differently.
