Lekha Washington Cryptically Reacts To Trolls Calling Imran Khan ‘Not Even Indian Citizen’
Imran Khan approached the Bombay High Court with a plea challenging a notice issued by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). He has been asked to ‘Leave India’ by October 28. The plea remains to be heard on October 26. While the actor awaits a solution from the court, Lekha Washington has thrown light on the trolling that he has been facing over the past few weeks. In a cryptic Instagram Story, the model quietly hit back at naysayers for criticising Khan and her.
Lekha shared some comments on her and Imran’s citizenship. One comment read, “Failed actors had become very much concerned about nation,” whereas another person wrote, “Oh you are not even a citizen.. Now i guess you will be sent out and wont able to keep your foot in my soil again.”
Her next Instagram Story read, “We are made of air water each other what we do to the air we do to ourselves what we do to the water we do to ourselves what we do to each other we do to ourselves.”
On October 10, Imran and Lekha, along with his cousin Zayn Marie Khan, visited Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on October 10 amid the CJP protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He was detained by the Mumbai Police. Kirit Somaiya raised an objection to Imran’s alleged participation in the protest, considering he holds American citizenship. Mumbai Police issued a ‘Leave India’ notice to Imran, directing him to leave the country by October 28.
Imran moved the Bombay High Court challenging a notice issued by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Mumbai, terming the action arbitrary, illegal and unconstitutional. The Bombay High Court has scheduled the hearing on October 26. A Bar And Bench report revealed that Senior Advocate Venkatesh Dhond said in court that Imran was served the FRRO notice because he attempted to attend the CJP protest and was stopped halfway through. The actor had to return. He further informed the court that the Central government has been served a copy of the petition and requested a hearing on October 21. The court decided to hear Imran’s plea on October 26 to give time to the FRRO to get instructions on the petition.
The actor’s legal team, led by advocate Zulfikar Memon, mentioned the matter before a division bench of Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna in the High Court today (October 19), seeking an urgent hearing. In his petition, Khan has sought quashing of the October 14 notice, contending that it does not specify the provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, that he allegedly violated. He has also argued that the notice was issued without a show-cause notice or an opportunity to be heard.
