KDF Addresses 2026/2027 Mass Recruitment Notices, Warns Kenyans Seeking Jobs

In a statement issued on Monday, October 19, KDF cautioned job seekers against relying on unofficial announcements that could expose them to fraud. The clarification comes amid growing concern over fraudulent notices targeting Kenyans hoping to join the military.

The fake documents reportedly claimed that applications would run from October 16 to November 27, 2026. They listed several positions, including General Service Officer cadets, combatants, tradesmen and information and communications technology specialists.

According to the reported findings, the notices were designed to resemble official Kenya Gazette announcements to make them appear legitimate. However, some documents contained suspicious text, fake approval stamps and unauthorised links directing applicants to submit personal information.

The fraudulent notices allegedly instructed applicants to provide sensitive documents, including national identity cards and academic certificates, through unofficial online platforms. Such information could be misused by fraudsters seeking to steal identities or obtain money from unsuspecting job seekers.

KDF has emphasised that genuine recruitment announcements are communicated through recognised channels, including the Ministry of Defence website, official military social media platforms and mainstream media outlets. Members of the public have been advised to verify any recruitment information before submitting documents or taking further action.

The warning comes nearly a year after KDF conducted a nationwide recruitment exercise in October 2025. The previous exercise involved physical screening across all 47 counties between October 13 and October 25, with successful candidates selected to begin military training.

Approximately 5,000 recruits reportedly proceeded to the Defence Forces Recruit Training School in Eldoret for basic military training following the selection process.

Kenyans interested in joining the armed forces have been urged to remain patient and wait for an official announcement before preparing applications. KDF has reiterated that information about future recruitment opportunities should only be obtained from verified government and military communication channels.
