‘If Anything Happens to My Father’: Dudu Raises Alarm, Demands Urgent Probe Into Zuma’s Security
Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former South African president Jacob Zuma, has requested an emergency investigation into the actions of those responsible for her father’s security out of concern regarding the reliability of his current security arrangements.
These concerns were purportedly conveyed to Major-General Wally Rhoode, the head of the Presidential Protection Unit, in a seven-page letter dated 8 September 2026. The security protocols associated with the 84-year-old former president were subjected to additional scrutiny subsequent to the paper’s disclosure in October.
In the letter, Zuma-Sambudla is purportedly accused of questioning the professionalism and objectivity of numerous law enforcement officers who are responsible for safeguarding her father. She implicated numerous members of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in both personal family disputes and party politics in her accusations.
She also expressed her concerns regarding the potential connections between security personnel and party leaders, suggesting that these connections could potentially compromise their impartiality and influence the selection of individuals authorised to meet with Zuma.
Accusations were made that certain officials may have received bribes or other benefits in exchange for favours, including the potential to influence access to the previous president. Before making any conclusions, it is imperative to conduct an impartial investigation to verify these claims.
According to reports, Zuma-Sambudla requested that the authorities conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the issues raised in her letters. She warned that her father could be endangered if she exhibited any signs of vulnerability or obstructed his defences.
Furthermore, she was interested in determining the individual who possessed the authority to modify and coordinate Zuma’s schedule and location. Additionally, she was purportedly interested in learning how he informed the appropriate individuals of his appointments in advance.
She purportedly requested the dismissal and replacement of officers in the letter due to her belief that they may have been negligent in their responsibilities.
She was also preoccupied with concerns regarding Zuma’s health care. According to reports, she desired for her father and the individuals responsible for his treatment to engage in a face-to-face conversation regarding his medical condition.
