How Gladys Wanga Has Reacted After Linda Mwananchi Leaders Visited Gachagua in Wamunyoro

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has criticised leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement following their visit to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County.

The delegation included ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and other leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi faction. Their visit sparked fresh debate about political alliances and the direction of the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during the Kasipul Development Programme and Public Engagement in Ombek, West Kasipul Constituency, Wanga questioned the political direction of those who visited Gachagua.

The governor argued that their political approach differed from the philosophy of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whom she described as a leader committed to national unity and inclusive development.

Wanga said Raila had championed the interests of Kenyans across different communities and regions, adding that political alliances should promote national cohesion rather than ethnic divisions.

She criticised what she characterised as tribal politics and accused some leaders of pursuing political mobilisation that could deepen divisions among Kenyans.

Defending the broad-based government arrangement involving President William Ruto’s administration and ODM leaders, Wanga maintained that cooperation should focus on development and equal opportunities for citizens across the country.

She urged residents of Kasipul and the wider Nyanza region to support initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, creating opportunities for young people and promoting development across all 47 counties.

Wanga also reaffirmed her support for the government’s development agenda while questioning the emerging political alliances involving Gachagua and leaders who have visited his Wamunyoro home.
