Ghana Is Back Mahama Announces Huge Jump In Foreign Investment – From $624m To $2.62 Billion
President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Ghana has jumped to US$2.62 billion in 2025, up from just US$624 million in 2024.
That is more than a 4-times increase in just one year.
The President disclosed this at two major industrial events – the sod-cutting for the new 1,238-acre Afienya Industrial Park and the commissioning of Nestlé Ghana’s expanded factory in Tema.
According to President Mahama, the reason is simple: the economy is now stable.
He said the growth is because of falling inflation, declining interest rates, and a more stable cedi.
“The stability of the Ghanaian economy is attracting strong interest from global investors,” the President said. “It reflects growing confidence in government leadership.”
He said this shows investors now trust Ghana again.
Afienya and Tema to create thousands of jobs
President Mahama said the new Afienya Industrial Park is ready for business. The land is litigation-free and will have electricity, water, roads and internet to help factories start fast.
He also pointed to Tema as proof that Ghana’s industrial plan is working. Tema Export Processing Zone has created more than 80 companies, generated over $24 billion in export revenue in 30 years, and exported $3.1 billion worth of goods in 2025 alone. It has sustained over 78,000 direct jobs, with 98% held by Ghanaians.
In Tema, Nestlé Ghana has also expanded. Its evaporated milk production will increase from 12,960 tonnes to nearly 30,000 tonnes. The factory now supports 1,200 full-time workers and 1,300 other workers.
“Kwame Nkrumah planned Tema as Ghana’s industrial city, and I am pleased to say that Tema is regaining its glory days,” Mahama said.
He linked the new investments to his government’s flagship 24-hour economy initiative and the New Economy Policy coming in 2027, which is expected to make Ghana an export powerhouse in Africa.
The message is clear: Ghana is open for business, and the world is listening.
