The announcement provides an indication of the timeline for the appointment of a permanent coach as Ghana continues preparations for its upcoming international assignments.
However, Asante Twum has played down suggestions that the interim technical team could secure the position permanently if it wins both matches against Somalia.
According to the GFA Communications Director, winning the two games would not automatically guarantee the interim handlers the opportunity to take charge of the senior national team on a permanent basis.
The clarification suggests that the association’s decision will not be based solely on the results of the two matches, but will involve a broader consideration of the requirements for the substantive coaching position.
The interim technical team will therefore have the responsibility of guiding the Black Stars through the Somalia fixtures while the GFA works towards appointing a permanent coach.
Although victories in both encounters would provide a positive outcome for Ghana, Asante Twum’s comments indicate that the results alone will not determine who eventually gets the job.
The Black Stars’ coaching situation has attracted considerable attention as the national team seeks stability and direction ahead of its forthcoming competitions. The appointment of a substantive coach is expected to provide clarity regarding the team’s technical leadership and long-term plans.
For the interim handlers, the Somalia double-header presents an opportunity to work with the players, implement their tactical ideas and pursue positive results. However, they cannot assume that winning both matches would automatically lead to a permanent appointment.
The GFA’s position also leaves open the possibility that the association could consider other candidates as it evaluates the best option to lead the national team.
Asante Twum’s confirmation means that attention will remain on the Somalia fixtures, with the expectation that the substantive coaching appointment will follow after the two matches.
The association has yet to identify the person who will take over the role on a permanent basis in the information provided, leaving the Black Stars’ next head coach as a major subject of interest among Ghanaian football followers.
