Don’t Pressure Zanetor Rawlings To Accept Any Cabinet Position – Cadman Atta Mills Advises

Cadman Atta Mills, the brother of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, has called on Ghanaians, particularly NDC members, to allow Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to decide for herself whether she wants to serve in President John Mahama’s cabinet.

Writing on his official X page on Sunday, October 26, 2025, Cadman Mills said political office should not be regarded as the only way for a member of a governing party to contribute to the country. He maintained that politicians should be guided by their convictions rather than feeling compelled to accept appointments simply because their party is in power.

He explained that being members of the same political party does not necessarily mean President Mahama and Zanetor must agree on every issue. He pointed out that political parties contain people with different ideas and perspectives about the country’s future.

Cadman Mills said it would not be helpful for genuine differences in opinion to be ignored simply because someone wants to become part of government. In his view, accepting a position despite serious differences over values or policies could eventually result in tension and may force an individual to compromise personal principles.

He, however, clarified that he was not saying Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings was opposed to President Mahama’s values or policies. Rather, he said his comments were prompted by reports and public conversations about the possibility of her receiving a cabinet appointment.

The discussion gained attention after some NDC supporters reportedly appealed to President Mahama to give Zanetor a ministerial role, citing her experience and recent positions at the National Health Insurance Authority and the Pan-African Parliament.

Cadman Mills concluded by stressing that national service is not limited to holding a ministerial or cabinet position. He said people can make meaningful contributions to Ghana through different forms of leadership and public service.

The statement has sparked varying opinions on social media. While some users have supported Cadman Mills’ position, others have argued that Zanetor’s experience and dedication make her suitable for a senior role in the Mahama administration.
