Commissioner, DC visit District Jail Kohat, review facilities

PESHAWAR  –  Commissioner Kohat and the Dep­uty Commissioner Kohat visited District Jail Kohat.

During the visit, they inspected the jail hospital, Drug Rehabilita­tion Centre (DRC), and Skill Devel­opment Centre, and conducted a detailed review of the facilities be­ing provided and the activities un­derway at these centres.

An open court (Khuli Kacheh­ri) was also held during the visit, where the officers listened to the issues and complaints of prison­ers and other individuals.

They directed the relevant au­thorities to take the necessary steps to resolve these matters.

On the occasion, the Jail Superin­tendent briefed the distinguished officers in detail on the overall administrative affairs of the jail, measures taken for prisoners’ welfare and rehabilitation, and se­curity arrangements. During the briefing, several important issues were also highlighted, including the provision of an express feeder and the incomplete finishing work on the jail’s outer security wall.

The Commissioner Kohat as­sured the officials that these is­sues would be taken up with the relevant authorities for their ear­ly resolution.

He also appreciated the profes­sional competence and services of the Jail Superintendent, stating that he had known him for a long time and had always found him to be a hardworking, dedicated, and dutiful officer. He expressed confi­dence that the Jail Superintendent would continue to manage the overall affairs of the jail efficiently, in accordance with the law and ap­plicable rules and regulations. 

He further emphasized the im­portance of fulfilling official re­sponsibilities while ensuring pris­oners’ essential needs, welfare, and the resolution of their legiti­mate concerns.
