Chaos as God-Fearing Nyeri Multi-Millionaire is Shot Dead in Midnight Bank Heist

Details emerged of how a wealthy Nyeri tycoon was killed during a foiled bank heist in Nakuru Town.

Residents of Nyeri and Karatina towns are still in shock after learning that 31-year-old multi-millionaire Evantus Gikandi Maina was shot dead inside Barclays Bank, Nakuru East branch. Gikandi, who was widely respected as a devout Christian and successful businessman, led a double life as the mastermind of a dangerous safecracking syndicate.

On Monday night, Gikandi and three accomplices sneaked into the bank using duplicated keys provided by an insider teller, Michael Njoroge. Unbeknownst to the gang, plainclothes police officers were waiting inside after receiving a tip-off. When challenged, a gang member opened fire, triggering a fierce gunfight that left Gikandi and his accomplices dead on the spot.

“We couldn’t believe it when we heard he was involved. He was a good man who supported local churches,” said a grief-stricken neighbor in Ruring’u.

Police recovered 33 ATM cards, a KSh 11.5 million deposit slip, and heavy gas-cutting tools at the scene, exposing the hidden criminal empire behind his respected public image.
