Asante Kotoko Return to Winning Ways With 2-1 Victory Over Young Apostles

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League after beating Young Apostles 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

The Porcupine Warriors delivered a stronger performance in the second half after both teams failed to score before the break.

Kotoko broke the deadlock in the 70th minute through Hubert Gyau. The midfielder finished off a good attacking move after Patrick Asiedu made an impressive run down the left flank and delivered a pass into the box.

The home side continued to put pressure on Young Apostles and scored their second goal in the 82nd minute. Substitute Solomon Nsor-Asaah found the net after Emmanuel Sanja provided the assist.

Young Apostles refused to give up and pulled one goal back late in the match through Iddrisu Huzaif, who scored from a free-kick. However, Kotoko held on to secure all three points.

The victory was important for Kotoko after their previous defeat to Swedru All Blacks. It also gave the team a chance to build momentum as the league season continues.

The result moved Kotoko to 11 points after seven matches, while Young Apostles remained in the relegation zone.

Kotoko will now prepare for their next league match against FC AshantiGold 04 as they aim to continue their climb up the table.

For Young Apostles, the focus will be on correcting their mistakes and returning to winning ways in their next fixture.
