Afenyo Markin Shócks Ghanaians As He Exposes The Truth About Wontumi, Says He Can’t Pay 50M Bail

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has urged the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to cancel the GH₵50 million bail granted to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman.

The Minority Leader’s request has brought fresh scrutiny to EOCO’s handling of the case and the conditions attached to Wontumi’s bail.

He has asked the agency to reconsider its decision, raising questions about the circumstances under which the bail was granted and whether there are grounds for its cancellation.

Wontumi’s case has attracted considerable public attention because of his political position and the large financial amount involved in the bail arrangement.

Despite Afenyo-Markin’s appeal, there is no indication that EOCO has cancelled the bail. Any change to the existing conditions would have to be made in accordance with the law and through the proper legal process.

The development has also renewed debate over accountability, due process and equal treatment under the law, particularly in cases involving influential political figures. EOCO’s response will determine whether Wontumi’s current bail conditions remain in place or are reviewed.
