A Man Abandoned His Child With Neighbour & Flew Away, Few Hours Later His Wife Was Found Dead

A KwaZulu-Natal community has been plunged into shock after a 36-year-old woman was found dead inside her rented room in Phase 5, Waterloo outside Durban, on Monday afternoon following reports that her husband left their 15-month-old toddler with a neighbour before disappearing.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), which provides private security and medical emergency services responded to a call for assistance at approximately 17:28. Upon arrival reaction officers discovered the woman lying on a blanket on the floor of the residence.

According to a 66-year-old neighbour, the woman’s 38-year-old husband had approached him earlier in the afternoon, asking him to look after their toddler while he went to buy cigarettes.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the child needed to be breastfed and the husband had still not returned a RUSA representative reportedly stated.

Growing concerned about the prolonged absence, the neighbour went to the couple’s rented room to check on the parents. His visit reportedly ended in a horrifying discovery when he found the mother lying lifeless inside the residence.

The situation became more concerning when a family acquaintance arrived to conduct a wellness check. The acquaintance reportedly explained that the husband brother had contacted them after receiving a telephone call from the man.

During the alleged conversation the husband reportedly claimed that his wife had slipped, fallen and lost consciousness. His cellphone was allegedly switched off immediately after the call and his whereabouts remained unknown in the information provided.

Meanwhile residents and acquaintances have alleged that the man had a history of assaulting his wife while intoxicated. These allegations have not been independently verified and the circumstances surrounding the woman death remain unclear.

RUSA paramedics assessed the woman and noted that rigor mortis had already set in. She was subsequently declared dead at the scene.

The tragedy has raised serious concerns about the welfare of the couple young child and the unanswered questions surrounding the mother death.

At this stage the cause of death has not been confirmed and the allegations of murder remain unproven. Further investigation is needed to establish what happened and determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
