Roses, Rising Stars and Hanover Park crowned Coca-Cola Amateur Cup champions
Cape Town Roses, Rising Stars and Hanover Park FC claimed titles in the 31st edition of the Coca-Cola Amateur Cup at Athlone Stadium on Saturday, October 17. More than 500 teams entered this year’s competition across the three divisions, underlining the depth of grassroots football in Cape Town.
Hanover Park, Cape Town Roses and Rising Stars emerged as champions in the senior men’s, women’s and under-18 divisions respectively. Hanover Park, affectionately known as the Brasse Vannie Park, continued their strong run by beating Saxon Rovers 2-0 in the senior men’s final, with Ibrahiem Theunissen scoring both goals.
In the women’s decider, Cape Town Roses swept past Santos FC 3-0. Siyamthanda Macingwana scored twice, opening the scoring with a free-kick, while Lisakhanya Situlweni added the third. Rising Stars matched that winning margin, beating Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town 3-0 to lift the under-18 trophy.
Rising Stars goalkeeper Alonso Juta capped his side’s triumph by collecting both the Player-of-the- Series and Goalkeeper-of-the-Series awards in the under-18 division.
