Real Madrid star experiencing a difficult period under Jose Mourinho with limited playing time

Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz is facing an uncertain future under head coach Jose Mourinho, with limited playing time and muscle discomfort affecting his opportunities this season.

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Moroccan international has struggled to secure a regular place in the team despite previously being considered a reliable option in the squad.

Brahim’s ability to play on either wing and in attacking midfield has made him a valuable player for Real Madrid. However, his involvement has decreased significantly, raising questions about his position in Mourinho’s plans.

Since impressing in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Inter, where he assisted Kylian Mbappe’s opening goal, Brahim has reportedly played just 22 minutes across five matches. He has also missed games against Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Roma, with his last reported appearance for the club coming against Elche on September 15.

Despite his physical discomfort, the 27 year old has continued training and remains available for selection. He enjoyed a more positive international break with Morocco, scoring against Lesotho in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Competition for attacking positions has increased following the emergence of Endrick and the involvement of Arda Guler and Yan Diomande. However, Vinicius Junior’s reported four-match domestic suspension could create an opportunity for Brahim to earn more minutes in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, AC Milan and Galatasaray are reportedly monitoring the forward ahead of the January transfer window. Either club could consider making a move if his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu does not improve.

For now, Brahim is reportedly determined to fight for his place and prove his worth to Mourinho. Regular playing time could be crucial to his ambitions, while the coming weeks may determine whether he remains at Real Madrid or considers a move elsewhere.
