Pope Skinny Backs Asiedu Nketiah for President, Cites His Long Political Career
Ghanaian musician Pope Skinny has thrown his support behind National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, expressing confidence that the experienced politician could become Ghanaβs next president.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Nana Romeo, the musician identified Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, as his preferred political figure, despite admitting that politics is not an area he follows with much interest.
Pope Skinny explained that his admiration for the NDC chairman stems largely from his lengthy involvement in Ghanaian politics and what he considers to be his clean public record.
According to the musician, Asiedu Nketiah has spent more than four decades in politics without being publicly linked to a corruption scandal, a factor he believes strengthens his suitability for the country’s highest political office.
Pope Skinny expressed the view that the veteran politician has worked hard over the years and deserves consideration as a potential presidential candidate.
The musician also weighed in on the growing debate about whether Ghana should be led by younger politicians. He disagreed with calls for a generational change in leadership, including arguments associated with musician and politician A-Plus.
He suggested that giving an experienced figure like Asiedu Nketiah the opportunity to lead the country could create room for younger politicians to take over in the future.
Furthermore, Pope Skinny argued that an individual with considerable political experience would be better positioned to continue the policies and programmes of President John Dramani Mahama at this stage of the country’s development.
The musician also praised what he views as improvements under the current administration, particularly in road infrastructure and national security.
His comments add another voice to ongoing discussions about political leadership, experience and generational change in Ghana, as public figures continue to share their views on the country’s political future.
