Legally blind man walking to store drowned in pond, GoFundMe account says

A GoFundMe fundraiser created by Mindy Flint, of Altha, Florida, said Lyon was legally blind and had been walking to a convenience store when he somehow ended up in the pond and drowned.

Flint set up the GoFundMe for Lyon’s wife.

“Victoria Lyon is facing an unimaginable loss after the death of her husband, Johnathan Lyon,” Flint wrote on the fundraising page.

She said Lyon’s wife, Victoria, is now caring for the couple’s children, Ally and Devin, while dealing with the family’s loss.

Police: No foul play in death of man found in pond

Police said investigators have found no indication of foul play and that the incident does not appear to pose a threat to public safety.

Preliminary findings suggest Lyon may have accidentally entered the water during the early morning hours and was unable to get out. However, the cause and manner of death have not been determined and remain under investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office and Edgewater police.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and that details could change as additional evidence is collected and reviewed. The Edgewater Police Department said it will release more information as it becomes available.
