Petrol and Diesel Get One of the Biggest Cuts in Recent Weeks

Petrol and diesel prices have been reduced again as the government announced new fuel rates for October 20, 2026.

The price of petrol has been cut by Rs5.16 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has received a larger reduction of Rs7.69 per litre.

Following the latest revision, petrol now costs Rs381.14 per liter, while diesel has dropped to Rs389.27 per liter.

This is one of the biggest fuel price reductions seen in the past month. Petrol has been cut by Rs5.16 per liter, the largest single petrol price drop during this period, after recent reductions mostly remained around Rs1 to Rs2 per liter.

Diesel has also received a sizeable Rs7.69 per liter cut, which is one of the biggest reductions in the past month.

According to the Petroleum Division, the latest revision reflects global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and other associated costs.
