NFL To Announce Punishment Decision After Caleb Williams Incident
Atlanta Falcons defensive end LaCale London will await the NFL’s decision on his Week 6 foul on Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
On Sunday, Williams returned with a vengeance and led Chicago to a 31-23 road win over Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, improving his team’s record to 4-2.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, who missed three straight weeks with a hamstring injury, completed 30 of 36 passes for 305 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
But Williams was on the receiving end of a roughing-the-passer call in the second quarter after a late, hard hit from London.
Williams threw an incomplete pass on a first-and-10 from the Bears’ 44-yard line, but the referee threw a flag on the play. This resulted in a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down for Chicago.
Replays show London made contact with Williams after he released the ball, forcing the Bears QB to the ground.

London now needs to wait for the league’s decision on whether to fine him for the foul on Williams.
According to the 2026 NFL rulebook, roughing the passer involves “any physical acts against a player who is in a passing posture (i.e. before, during, or after attempting a pass) which, in the game official’s judgment, are unwarranted by the circumstances of the play.”
Depending on the outcome of the league’s review, London could be slapped with a $17,911 fine under the NFL fines schedule. A second roughing-the-passer offense raises the fine to $23,882.
Any fine would typically appear in the NFL’s weekly accountability report on Saturday.
