Nairobi: Drama As Prominent CS Is Forced To Pay Goons Over KSh 100,000 After Being Held Hostage
Tension reportedly gripped Nairobiβs CBD after several men allegedly held a Cabinet Secretary at a political party office and demanded more than KSh 100,000 before allowing him to leave.
The Cabinet Secretary had visited the office for a courtesy call, but the situation reportedly changed when a group of men surrounded him and blocked his exit.
The men, some of whom allegedly claimed to be security guards, reportedly demanded money from the government official. Negotiations continued for several hours as efforts were made to secure his release.
The Cabinet Secretary is said to have eventually paid more than KSh 100,000, but the group allegedly continued demanding additional money.
The incident has sparked concern among government officials and raised questions about how the men were able to prevent a senior government official from leaving the premises.
Authorities are expected to investigate the allegations and determine whether the individuals involved used intimidation or their claimed security roles to extort money from the Cabinet Secretary.
